Ali Zafar tweets a cryptic poem #Mein
Zafar's tweet comes a mere six hours after Meesha asked for her song 'Mein' to be removed from the nominees

This has been a tough week for the Pakistani entertainment industry, where model Emaan Suleman took a stand against the Lux Style Awards (LSA) and everyone followed suit. The domino effect became even more powerful when Meesha Shafi requested the event organisers to remove her nomination, in solidarity with others who protested.
Shafi shared a note on Twitter explaining why she chose to remove her song Mein from the list of nominees. Her note is as much about supporting the protest as it is about the philosophy behind it. "Mein is a song about finding our true self. Being aligned with a higher purpose. Being our own hero and being enough. I wrote it at a particularly difficult time in my life. When I needed to be all those things," she explained.
The same day, six hours later, Ali Zafar shared a poem on Twitter accompanied by the hashtags #Mein and #ego. The central idea of the poem is how 'mein,' which he interprets as ego, is the root cause of all problems. As much as it's in simple Urdu with not much to read between the lines, the hashtags did make the tweet more cryptic.
Whether it is intentional or a mere coincidence, it seems like the first official response from Zafar after an individual's protest turned into a movement to boycott the prestigious entertainment award show.
