Nuptial Thwarted: Man axes father for trying to remarry

Father had previously threatened to turn his children out of the house when he married for the second time.

TIRANDA SIWAI KHAN:
A man killed his father with an axe over trying to sell their house and for trying to contract a third marriage on Wednesday evening. According to police officials, Chak 75PH Ghurbi resident Nazar Hussain Bhatti was trying to sell his family home and marry for the third time but his three sons threatened his life. On Wednesday afternoon, Bhatti received token money to sell the house but this led to a quarrel between him and his family. Bhatti’s son Irfan took an axe to his father for selling the property and killed him. “Our father had been threatening us for a while. He kept telling us that he would sell our house and marry again and we were against it but we would never have done what our brother did,” said Bhatti’s younger son Sultan. Police officials shifted Bhatti’s body to the DHQ hospital for an autopsy. Kotsmaba Police station arrested Irfan. Local resident Abdul Sattar, Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf and others told The Express Tribune that Bhatti had previously threatened to turn his children out of the house when he married for the second time.
