Energy crisis: ‘Thermal power will not solve the problem’

Hydel power generation projects are part of the solution.

ISLAMABAD:
Thermal electricity is not a serious solution to the ongoing energy crisis and to ensure cheaper energy the government is working on hydel power generation projects, said Board of Investment Chairman Saleem H Mandviwalla on Friday while talking to Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister  Syed Mehdi Shah.


To give a long-term solution to the energy crisis, the Chief Minister urged to create a regional office of Board of Investment in the area to promote investment opportunities. Shah said that G-B has the potential to solve the energy crisis of the country with its capacity of 50,000 MW, but the need is to bring serious investors to the region.
