ISLAMABAD:
The opposition leaders of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Shiraz Kayani and Malik Amir have said the mayor had no solution to water scarcity in the capital. The out of order street lights and overlooked parks have transformed the city into a forest, they added.

They said the Mayor , Sheikh Anser Aziz, did nothing for the city even though he remained the chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) for as long as three years. They told the city had 192 tube wells and 34 tankers for water supply however half of both have  now become inoperative.

They said the MCI has one billion rupees in its coffers which should be utilised for coping with  issues faced by the city.

“ We want the Mayor to complete his tenure while he wants that we place a no confidence motion against him”, they added.

They expressed that Ali Nawaz Awan’s presser earlier was not against the mayor itself however we were just inquiring bout his performance. “ The mayor’s reaction though was worthy of consideration”, they said.

They questioned the mayor related to PC-1 of various projects that he claimed were previously prepared.

On mayor’s claim of being low on budget, they said the MCI’s annual budget was 2.1 billion rupees excluding salary expenses.

They said the prime minister’s vision was to empower local government. The mayor has not been able to pass a single law even after 40 meetings, they expressed.

They accused that funds were not spent on rural areas while the mayor had not made a single budget of which he was obligated to after six months. “ The files of union councils were gathering dust ” they said.
