SHC grants NAB two-month deadline to complete illegal appointment case in education department

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) a two-month deadline to demonstrate progress pertaining to a case of illegal appointments in the education department.

A two-member bench headed by SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard the petitions lodged by Special Education Secretary Noor Muhammad Leghari and several others against the anti-graft body's inquiry.

On speeding up the probe, the bench stated that the matter shall be dismissed if the body did not show results within the allocated time.

The NAB counsel elaborated that the investigation was under way, to which the court questioned as to "why the top accountability body needs years to complete a case".

The court adjourned the hearing till June 25.
