Renowned singer performed at ghazal night organised by Alhamra Hall

A ghazal night was organised by Alhamra Arts Centre yesterday which saw renowned classical singer Ustad Ghulam Abbas enthrall the audience with flawless renditions of some of the finest ghazals and geets of the industry.
A large number of people attended the event, which included both members of the general public and students. Many appreciated Abbas' performance.
Executive Director of Lahore Arts Council, Ather Ali Khan, welcomed audiences and stated that the council's objective is to provide the public with an entertainment platform where they could enjoy the work of leading singers free of charge.
Abbas’ voice has given him the status of a legendary artist among numerous vocalists. The Mil Jata Hai Yar singer has worked ever so hard to make his place in the music industry and today’s younger generation can surely learn from his art.
He did a particularly good job during the ghazal night and his performance was a treat for the audiences. The coming days will witness more such events at Alhamra, providing a source of entertainment for the public, especially families.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Abbas stated, "Both ghazal singing and listening to classics has been a long-running tradition for music-lovers. It was even more popular a few years ago but due to commercialisation, this tradition is ending."
He continued, "Although there are many new things that have come into the field of music, ghazal singing has its own rich history and this tradition should be revived. It is our responsibility to do so. Thus, I am grateful that Alhamra's administration has given me that chance by arranging this ghazal night."
