Targeted Killing: BNP leader Rustom Marri shot dead

QUETTA: Gunmen shot dead prominent social activist Mir Rustom Marri in Dera Allah Yar in Jaffarabad Thursday evening.

Marri, who was also the district president of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), was sprayed with a volley of bullets as he stepped out of his house in Sobatpur Chowk.

He received multiple bullet wounds, which resulted in his instant death. Talking to the media, Rafiq Khoso, a leader of the Balochistan Republican Party (BRP), said that it was a political murder and accused the government of what he called the “extrajudicial killing” of the Baloch nationalist leader.

Marri remained a coordinator with international aid agencies and international humanitarian agencies providing help to the internally displaced persons of the Marri and Bugti tribal territories for years.

He was actively associated with the relief operation for the Baloch IDPs as well as the flood affected people of Jaffarabad.

sar waheed | 13 years ago | Reply strong text Such killings as reported of Marri and Bugti Tribal Chiefs or sons of the Chiefs are not surprising. Tribal way of life is killing and being killed. While amassing wealth locally and from foreign sources for development the administrators of this region hardly placed any resources to educate their people into modern civilisation. Culturally dead and intellectually devoid these Chiefs and their people know nothing other than robberies murder and killings. Foregt the women their sons are taught nothing about sciences or humanities but are given a cultural education of egotistical "man-hood" called domination. And in this respect too they fail miserably since after after the smoke settles and rapid fireing dies down thay still need to bury their dead and claim ascendency to being another "chief". Sure there are medical colleges Universities even Professors and doctors in the region but that is not the Chiefs way of life. Should he ( women excluded) reqire a degree from an eductional Institute for purposes that only He knows better......he can get degreed and "educated" by obtaing Institutions documents at gun-point. These tribals are dying breed same as those that once lived in deepest jungles of Africa...educated society and modern civilisation is passing them by as they slowly kill each other and they know nothing other or better.
