Heavy rains kill 39 across Pakistan

More widespread dust-thunderstorm and rain is expected

As a result of the recent rain-related incidents at least 39 people have been killed across Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Radio Pakistan reported.

The National Disaster Management Authority also revealed that one 135 others have been injured and 80 houses have so far been damaged due to the torrential rain that continued across the country.

As per recent reports, Islamabad received 57 millimeters, Rawalpindi 24, Lahore 43, Gujranwala 40, Peshawar 16 millimeters rains in the last 24 hours.


In different parts of Balochistan, on the other hand, torrential rains and floods during the last four days have resulted in 11 people dead and eight others injured.

A spokesperson for Provincial Disaster Management Authority told media correspondents that most of the houses have been damaged in district Kachhi. He also said that relief activities are underway.

More widespread dust-thunderstorm and rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in various parts across the country.
