LAHORE:
Police have identified the one and-a-half-year-old son of a woman who was murdered along with her six-year-old daughter. The bodies of the two deceased were discovered by police on Sunday. The child, identified as Ahmad, was in the custody of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB).

The prime suspect, who was wearing a helmet, had left him in the washroom of a mosque in Civil Lines police limits. People in the neighbourhood had informed police who brought the child to the bureau. Police have also obtained CCTV footage in which the suspect could be seen leaving the child in the washroom. On Sunday, the bodies of 40-year-old Ayesha and her six-year-old daughter Amna were recovered from the bedroom of a house in Lytton Road police jurisdiction.

Nearby residents called police after they sensed a foul stench in the area. A police team reached the spot and took the bodies to the morgue for an autopsy. They also collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded the statements of eyewitnesses. The victims had been murdered at least a week ago.

Police have registered a murder case against an unidentified suspect and were investigating the matter further. An investigator told The Express Tribune that the suspect might have murdered the daughter as she could identify him.

However, further investigations would help determine the facts. Meanwhile, the body of a 60-year-old woman was recovered from Sundar police limits. The body was recovered from the roof of a house. The corpse bore torture marks on the head. Police shifted the body to a morgue.

The deceased was identified as Mumtaz Bibi and police said the murderers might have clubbed her to death. In a separate incident, two sisters were injured when a roof of an under-construction house collapsed in Factory area on Monday. Soon after the incident, Rescue 1122 workers reached the site and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital.

Police said that the roof of Gul Nawaz’s house collapsed with a loud bang. As a result, two sisters identified as Ayesha and Samreen were buried under the debris. Rescue workers shifted the injured to the hospital where the condition of one the injured was stated to be critical.
