ATS commando martyred in operation against terrorists in Peshawar

PESHAWAR:
One commando of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) was martyred when police launched an operation against terrorists in Hayatabad.

According to initial information, police raided a house in Hayatabad phase 7 after receiving reports of the presence of terrorists.

CCPO Qazi Jamilur Rehman said that ATS commando Qamar Alam was martyred while one terrorist was gunned down in the operation after which more contingents of police rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that when police attempted to enter the house, it faced resistance from inside after which paramilitary forces were called in. He said that possibly there were six to seven terrorists present in the house.

Yousafzai said that in the past few days, a judge and additional IG had been attacked in Hayatabad.
