Canal Breach: 150 acres of sunflowers under water

SUKKUR: Two villages and more than 150 acres of sunflower fields came under water after a 20-foot-wide breach occurred in the Naseer canal near Thull on Thursday morning. The breach occurred near Lal Dole village, which was inundated along with Mukhtiar Dole village. There is knee-deep water standing in both villages. Residents Maula Bux Dole and Raheem Dino Dole blamed the irrigation officials of negligence. They said that the canal’s embankments were weak and the irrigation department was warned. But no one paid attention, they complained. “We had to plug the breach on our own.”
