Campaign: Livestock Dept faces vaccine shortage
The ongoing vaccination campaign for about 883,200 animals will protect them against diseases in case of floods.

The Livestock Department is facing a shortage of vaccine and requests for provision of vaccine have been sent to the Sindh Poultry Vaccination Centre in Karachi, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, and the Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology Faisalabad. Dr Abdul Rehman, the livestock district officer, said on Thursday that the ongoing vaccination campaign for animals will protect them against diseases in case of floods. He said that the eight towns of the district had been divided into 22 sectors, where 18 veterinary doctors and 36 veterinary assistants had been deputed. About 883,200 animals would be vaccinated in the district during the campaign, he added. The campaign that started on June 15 will continue till September 30.
