Big City Allowance: ‘Every teacher must move court’

Petitioner handed over cheque for monies owed to him.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court was informed on Thursday that big city allowance arrears had been paid to a senior headmaster of Government High School Raiwind Road, who had filed a contempt of court petition against the non implementation of the allowance despite a court order.

Finance Department deputy secretary Tariq Mehmood, and a provincial law officer, appeared before Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and handed over a cheque to the petitioner.

Petitioner Abdul Rasheed told the court that he had submitted the petition so that all the teachers serving at schools under the city district government of Lahore be given big city allowances. However, the judge observed that every aggrieved teacher needed to file a separate contempt of court petition for the purpose.
