Sheikhupura gets dry port
‘Port to provide efficient logistical solution’ .
LAHORE:
The establishment of Sheikhupura Dry Port Trust would go a long way in strengthening the economy and would help traders earn foreign exchange, said SDPT Co-Chairman Shahzad Ali Malik.
Addressing a meeting with members of the chemical sector on Thursday, Malik said the port is strategically located at the doorstep of five major industrial and commercial cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Gujrat and Sargodha.
According to Malik, the port will also result in better standard of living, as it’s bound to attract new investments and employment opportunities.
The sole objective of having another dry port is to make trade and industry competitive by reducing delivery time and cost – the port would be a cost-effective and efficient logistic solution to promote economic activities in the region, emphasised Malik.
