Japanese experts to install face-detecting cameras at IIA
Similar camera systems will be installed at the Karachi and Lahore airports as well

In a bid to ensure complete security at the new Islamabad International Airport (IIA), the government is working on a Japan-backed project to install face-reading cameras along with other modern security equipment.
For this purpose, an eight-member team, comprising two Japanese experts Makoto Kataoka and Koji Uchiyama, and six Pakistanis along with the Airport Security Force (ASF) and Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Vigilance Teams, visited the airport.
The teams visited the airport on Monday and Tuesday and examined the domestic, international and concourse lounges and other areas of the airport to review what will be the best places where the system will be installed.
Sources said that the process to install these security cameras had finally begun, adding that similar camera systems will be installed at the Karachi and Lahore airports as well.
