Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, constructed by the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) on river Neelum in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, achieved a landmark on Tuesday, as electricity generation from the project crossed 1,000MW mark. The project generated up to 1,040MW which was beyond its installed generation capacity of 969MW. This reflected the efficiency standard of the power plant. It is worth mentioning that Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project attained its maximum installed capacity of 969MW earlier on March 29. Since its commissioning in April 2018, the project has so far injected over 2.35 billion units (kWh) into the national grid. Presently, the project provides more than 20 million units per day.
