PM Imran, US Centcom chief discuss regional security

General McKenzie also holds a meeting with Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at the Naval headquarters

ISLAMABAD: Commander US Central Command General Kenneth F McKenzie called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Monday and discussed the regional security situation.

Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Secretary Foreign Affairs Tehmina Janjua were also present in the meeting at PM House.

Earlier, General McKenzie also held a meeting with Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at the Naval headquarters in Islamabad.

Incoming US Centcom chief discusses regional security with COAS

The two discussed matters pertaining to maritime security in the meeting.

The Naval Chief informed the US commander about the steps taken by Pakistan to curb maritime terrorism and piracy.

General McKenzie also assured Chief Admiral Abbasi that the US would provide every possible cooperation to Pakistan for regional peace and stability.

The US commander also met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ in Rawalpindi, on Sunday and discussed geo-strategic environment and regional security including Afghanistan and Pakistan-India standoff.
