LIAQUATPUR:
A woman and her newborn baby died due to the negligence of medical staff at a private hospital in Rahim Yar Khan’s Liaquatpur tehsil on Thursday.

Hamza, a resident of Fazilpur, told Express News that he brought his 22-year-old-niece Samreen Bibi to Zubeda Anwar Hospital in Liaquatpur after she went into labour.

He added that when they reached the health facility, they were told that that there was no female doctor available to examine Samreen Bibi. He maintained that the doctor on duty and other paramedical staff took the woman to the delivery room without their permission.

Hamza highlighted that after a few minutes, Samreen Bibi gave birth to a baby girl but both the mother and infant died due to the unavailability of proper medical assistance.

He said after the incident, the accused doctor and medical staff escaped.

Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives protested against the incident and demanded authorities take strict action against the doctor and other medical staff.

On April 2, a six-month-old infant died due to the negligence of a doctor at a private hospital in Mian Channu.

Abdul Rehman’s minor son, Habibur Rehman, was suffering from pain. His father took him to Abid Hospital where a child specialist examined him. The doctor suggested that the child could only be cured after a backbone operation. Abdul Rehman agreed and the doctor operated his son.

However, soon after the operation, his son’s condition deteriorated. He informed the accused doctor about Habibur Rehman’s condition, but the medic refused to examine him.

Despite repeated requests, the doctor refused to check his son. Later, the infant passed away.
