A student was beaten, to the point of being bedridden, by the clerk of a private school in Pindi Bhattian on Wednesday.

Muhammad Yaqub, a resident of Sukheke Town, told Express News that his son Abdul Rehman was a student of Class VIII.

He added a few days ago, his son fell sick and was suffering from high fever. Therefore, he could not attend school. Yaqub mentioned that he told the school administration about his condition.

The victim’s father said that when Abdul Rehman went to the school after recovering from illness, clerk Sikandar Bhatti called him to his office and beat him for being absent.

Yaqub pointed out that as a result of brutal torture, his son suffered critical injuries to different parts of the body and was unable to sit and walk. He revealed that the boy’s backbone had also been affected during the incident.

He disclosed that he took his son to Rural Health Centre Sukheke where the medical officer confirmed that the boy was subjected to torture.

Yaqub said that when he complained about the matter to the school principal, the latter threatened to expel his son from the institution.

Meanwhile, sources in the education department said that the said school was not registered and was being run under political influence.  The police have registered a case against the accused clerk and principal on the complaint of the victim’s father and started investigations.

In a similar incident a few months ago, an eight-year-old student was beaten and punished by a school principal and staff in Rahim Yar Khan’s Sadiqabad tehsil for failing to pay her fees.

Reportedly, Aliza Batool studied at a private school situated on Zor Kot Road.

The principal and vice principal of the school beat the girl and made her stand in the scorching heat as punishment for not submitting the fees.
