In a united display of sisterhood, three women allegedly beat up a police official in Sailkot’s Daska tehsil for hurling verbal abuse and for misbehaving with them, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Reportedly, three women, identified as Fakhra, Asmat Bibi and Saba Bibi, visited City police station in order to register a case. However, the assistant sub-inspector on duty, Nasir Iqbal, allegedly misbehaved and verbally abused them.

Enraged by his demeanour, the women took it upon themselves to teach the official a lesson by beating him up. Other officials at the police station were alerted of the situation after hearing Iqbal’s cries for help and swooped in to rescue the ‘damsel in distress’.

However, this situation did not sit well with the ASI and other officials who locked the women in a room and subjected them to torture.

Speaking to Express News, the women revealed that they had been visiting the police station for the past several days in order to register a case. However, ASI Nasir Iqbal was using delaying tactics to avoid the registration.

The women maintained that Iqbal used offensive language and would ‘tease’ them every time they visited the police station. Fed up with his behaviour, the women decided to take matters into their own hands.

Meanwhile, City police station officials claim that the women tore the ASI’s uniform and also injured him. They stated that a case has been registered against the women and legal proceedings were under way.

In February, a raiding police team was beaten and held hostage by more than a dozen accused in Lodhran.

A law enforcement team conducted a raid in Chak No 99-M to arrest Javed Baloch, who was wanted for a robbery. When the policemen entered the suspect’s hideout, more than a dozen of the culprit’s accomplices, including his brother, attacked the officials with sticks and rods.

The accused misbehaved with police and physically assaulted Sub-Inspector Ghulam Ali along with five other police constables. The accused snatched Rs7,000 from the police team. The suspects tore the officials’ uniform and also stole their weapons.
