Formula One: FIA gives new engine ruling

Teams will no longer be able to either change or tinker with their engines

PARIS:
Formula One teams will no longer be able to either change or tinker with their engines in between the start of qualifying and the Grand Prix itself, a letter sent to them from the FIA has revealed. A spokesperson for the FIA confirmed the contents of the letter. “The FIA has let it be known that after analysing the statistics from the first seven grands prix, they noticed astonishing differences in the engines performances in certain cars,” the spokesperson said.”The FIA intervenes when it perceives that the rules haven’t been respected. In our view this is totally inconsistent with the intention of the parc fermé regulations, — that cars should be raced exactly as they qualified.”
