Rawalpindi aiming to top district education rankings

Deputy commissioner directs active monitoring of schools, training of teachers

The district education department has been directed to take firm measures to improve the quality of education in schools of the district so that it ranks among the best education providing district in the province.

This was directed by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Ali Randhawa during a meeting of the District Review Committee on Education.

Randhawa said that monitoring officers should visit the schools regularly to inspect whether the schools were equipped with activity rooms for small classes which would aid help polish their creativity.

Further, the district monitoring officer said that they were monitoring some 1,802 schools in the district over their curricular and non-curricular capacity.

Additional measures including training of school head-teachers, monthly meetings at the DMO office apart from LND training for primary school teachers will be undertaken to improve the quality of education in the district, he said.

The deputy commissioner further directed assistant education officials to ensure 95 per cent attendance of all teachers and added that primary students will be given early childhood education kits as well.


Boosting enrollment

In a bid to boost admissions in schools of the Rawalpindi district, the district education authority (DEA) has decided to upgrade some 23 schools in two tehsils including Murree and Kotli Sattiyan.

A notification in this regard has been issued.

The upgrades will impact six primary schools, 10 middle schools and six high schools into middle schools, high schools and higher secondary schools respectively.

Further, additional teachers have been appointed at to the schools whereas admissions will start from the new educational year.

The move had been approved by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on the recommendations of National Assembly Member Sadaqat Abbasi and Punjab Assembly Member Latasab Satti.
