Need to develop and promote the country's soft image, says foreign minister
Referring to Pakistan as the "most beautiful country of the region", Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that the tourism industry has significant potential in the country.
"Private sector also needs to play a role in promoting tourism," said the foreign minister addressing the Pakistan Tourism Summit.
We need to develop and promote the soft image of the country to encourage tourism, said Qureshi, adding that, "the number of tourists coming to the country has increased in the past few years".
K-P to set up separate tourism authority
Guarantying security of tourists, the foreign minister went on to add: "We have also improved the visa policy, and introduced the e-visa facility."
We have eased travel restrictions and 50 countries will be given visa on arrival to Pakistan, the foreign minister added.
"We are also working on promoting religious tourism, this was the purpose of opening the Kartarpur corridor."
