ANF launches drive against poppy cultivation

QUETTA: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a campaign against poppy cultivation in the province on the directives of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

In the first phase, the ANF and Levies personnel, with the help of Frontier Corps, destroyed poppy crops cultivated in Killi Bakhtiar Khan and Killi Talab areas of Dukki district.

A heavy contingent of ANF and Levies force cordoned off the area after receiving information about the cultivation of poppy in two villages. They destroyed the poppy in the vast area.

“The poppy crop destroyed in two villages was cultivated on 10 acres of land,” said a senior official of ANF, adding that the campaign would continue till destroying the entire poppy crop in different areas of the province.

ANF continues crackdown on recreational drugs

There was information that poppy was also found being cultivated in Qilla Abdullah, Kalat, Gulistan and Dukki areas.

The chief minister has directed the concerned authorities to take strict action against elements involved in poppy cultivation and illegal drug business.
