IHC directs to transfer custody of black bear to Islamabad Zoo
Court directs IMC to submit written clarification by April 18
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC) on the application of the Islamabad Wildlife Board (IWB) for the custody of the black bear at the Islamabad Zoo.
In its written four-page verdict, the court ordered the IWB to take the endangered bear to Islamabad Zoo in their custody and shift it to Balkasar bear sanctuary until the next hearing.
The IHC directed the zoo director to abide by the court orders. During the hearing, the court questioned whether the facilities in Islamabad Zoo were of the standard required to cage the black bear.
Furthermore, the court directed the IMC to submit a written clarification by April 18.
