ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital (ICT) Administration on Thursday enhanced their anti-encroachment operations to secure possession of land in Sector E-12 as part of an anti-encroachment drive that has lasted over a month.

Now, the authorities are demolishing illegally built structures in the sector.

Thursday’s operation saw officers and staff from CDA’s Enforcement and the Land and Rehabilitation Directorates. Officials of the Islamabad Police and the paramilitary Rangers were also deputed to counter any untoward situation.

Heavy machinery from the Machine Pool Organization (MPO) Directorate was also used to remove or demolish illegal construction.

During Thursday’s operation, 13 rooms, a boundary wall, four washrooms and other structures were demolished. The operation is expected to continue for three to four more days in the sector. Previously, only vacant land had been taken over, but now structures were being demolished.
