0.15m to get training under skills development project
Half of the training focuses on high-end labour sectors, remaining 50% targets vocational training
ISLAMABAD:
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar called on Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood to discuss the need to impart productive skills and develop entrepreneurship culture in the youth. He suggested that this is done through skill development and startup initiatives.
Under the skill development project, 150,000 prospective trainees will receive technical and vocational training in demand driven trades over a period of two years.
Around half of these training will focus on high-end labour sectors, whereas the remaining 50 per cent will target conventional vocational training in less privileged areas such as Balochistan and erstwhile federally administered tribal areas, ensuring around 75 per cent employability of the trained youth.
150 women to get training in different trades under PM’s skill development programme
Under the Startup Pakistan initiative, a million youngsters from all universities and 300 accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes will be targeted to set up a national eco-system for entrepreneurship incubation for establishing self-sustaining venture start-ups as a driving engine for the national economy.
Moreover, Dar also briefed the education minister on the upcoming initiatives of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, including the National Youth Employment Exchange and a mobile application for skilled workers.
