A man was allegedly gunned down over a court marriage in Gujranwala on Sunday.

Police told Express News that 33-year-old Khurram, a resident of Faqeeran Wali Village, was married and had two children. After a few years, he had an affair with Mushtaq’s daughter, who resided in the same locality.

Khurram fell in love with the woman and decided to marry her. On the day of the incident, the couple got married in court. However, when Khurram’s first wife and in-laws heard about the union, they were enraged.

When the victim was returning home from work, his in-laws, including Yasir and Farooq, opened fire at him and escaped from the scene. Khurram sustained multiple bullet injuries and was killed on the spot.

Police shifted the body to a local hospital and registered an FIR against the culprits.

Earlier, a man was shot at and injured by his in-laws over a marriage dispute in Muzaffargarh. Reportedly, 33-year-old Owais, a resident of Kot Adsdu tehsil, had an affair with Qari Abdul Rehman’s daughter. Three years ago, the couple ran away from home and tied the knot against the will of their families.

When Abdul Rehman got to know about the union, he was enraged and decided to murder Owais for the disgrace he had brought to his family. However, relatives intervened and settled the matter. But the girl’s father was not happy and was adamant on taking revenge.

On the day of the incident, Abdul Rehman called his son-in-law to his house. When the victim reached the home, the accused and his son Osama opened fire on him.
