Speaking at the district office of National Party, Lehri said the party was fast becoming popular among women. She said 17 women’s units of the party in Kech district were functioning, while efforts were under way for setting up more units.
National Party President Dr Abdu0l Malik Baloch, Senator Kuhda Akram Dashti, Dr Noor Baloch and others were present on the occasion.
Lehri said the women wing of the party would increase its participation in public welfare activities and play its role in every sphere of life.
She said that National Party was an ideological organization and it was not possible to address the political, social and economic issues without taking the women, youth and minorities on board.
She said the women wing of the party was established in 1998 and currently it was active in 15 districts of Balochistan, while the women had been given representation at the central, provincial and district levels.
She said that to provide adequate representation to women, not only would they be encouraged and brought into the mainstream politics, but constitutional changes in the party would also be sought to grant them representation in the provincial and central cabinets.
She claimed that the National Party was giving representation to women in the assemblies on merit, while other parties were merely fulfilling formalities in this regard.
Lehri expressed her delight over the political activism of women witnessed during her tour of Kech and Gwadar.
