Gladiators reach Quetta after winning PSL title

Sarfaraz Ahmed-led team given a warm welcome at Quetta International Airport

QUETTA: Quetta Gladiators, the winning team of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season four, on Saturday received a warm welcome at the Quetta International Airport as it reached the provincial capital on a two-day visit.

Quetta clinched the title by beating Peshawar Zalmi in the final played in Karachi on March 17.

Balochistan Minister for Information Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Adviser to the Chief Minister for Sports and Culture Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Female Adviser to the Chief Minister Bushara Rind, member provincial assembly (MPA) Mobeen Khilji, Quetta Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Tahir Abbasi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nasibullah Kakar welcomed the winning team to their home soil.

The overjoyed fans were chanting slogans and carrying banners to welcome the team. All Pakistani members of the team are visiting Quetta – its foreign members having left for their countries after playing the final.

The cricket fans showered rose petals on the team members when they came out of the airport. The team was later brought to Quetta city in the shape of a motorcade amid heightened security.

A musical show was arranged for the team at the Quetta Polo Ground cantonment. Prominent singers of the country performed in the show, which continued till late night.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal, Commander Southern Command Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa, provincial ministers, civil and military officers, and large number of people attended the function arranged in the honour of the cricket team.

CM Kamal and General Bajwa presented awards to the members of the team at the end of the function.
