Police bust gang of car thieves in Rawalpindi

58 stolen vehicles recovered

RAWALPINDI: Police remained successful in arresting the auto theft gang active in Rawal Town and recovered 58 stolen vehicles, motorbikes from their possession.

Addressing a press conference, City Police Officer (CPO) Abbas Ahsan said Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) has been activated to detect stolen vehicles.

He informed that stolen vehicles were smuggled to Afghanistan, Kashmir and other parts of the country, claiming that modern system would help track down vehicle theft.

CPO appreciated the efforts of SP Usman Butt for busting car snatching gang. CPO also handed over keys to the owners of stolen vehicles. Speaking on the occasion, he said culprits behind Sadiqabad firing incident, which claimed lives of three police officials and injuring two others, would be arrested soon.

He said dedicated, brave and courageous police personnel who discharge their duties efficiently are pride of the police department. The police personnel were vigilant to combat crimes and their struggle would continue till its elimination, he added.

CPO said new police stations would be set up to improve law and order situation in the country. He said the prime responsibility of police was to protect lives and properties of public. He also directed police officials to behave politely with complainants and ensure people friendly atmosphere in police stations.
