PESHAWAR:
Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa rewarded on Thursday a bomb disposal squad (BDS) personnel with Rs5 million for rendering immense sacrifices in saving hundreds of lives in the country.

A recipient of Tamgha-e-Shujaat in 2015, Inayatullah Tiger works with the BDS unit of Dera Ismail Khan police. He was injured seven times while defusing 300 bombs, five suicide vests and three explosive-laden vehicles.

He recently got replacement of his artificial leg from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police.

In spite of having seven close calls from death, he holds his profession dear.

Tiger lost his leg in 2014 while defusing a landmine in DI Khan.

However, after recovery and implant of an artificial leg, he restarted his work with more valour and the government acknowledged his services with highest medal.

General Bajwa awarded the prize to Inyatullah after Roznama Express and The Express Tribune, daily publishing newspapers owned by Express Media Group, highlighted Tiger's contributions.

Senior army officials handed over the cheque on the army chief's directives.

“People like Inayatullah Tiger are our country's assets, and we are proud of him,” the COAS said in a statement.

The fearless BDS expert thanked the Express Media Group for highlighting his contributions.
