Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has said that her father Nawaz Sharif “remains unwell with continuous angina”.

Soon after visiting the former prime minister at Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore on Thursday, she took to Twitter describing the present health condition of the PML-N chief.

“Today again during the meeting he [Nawaz Sharif] had to use sublingual spray for the pain and breathlessness,” she wrote on the micro-blogging website.

Nawaz, the three-time premier, was sentenced to a seven-year rigorous imprisonment and hefty fine imposed by the accountability court on December 24 last year after he was found guilty in Al-Azizia corruption reference.

Despite several attempts by the Sharif family, the deposed prime minister, who is suffering from heart related illness, refused the government’s medical treatment citing “disdainful behaviour” of the PTI-led government.

On Tuesday, Leader of Opposition Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz had said the practice of political point-scoring over Nawaz’s health needed to be stopped with immediate effect.

“This fiasco and false propaganda against genuinely ill Nawaz will not fool the nation being crushed by the [PTI] government’s historic failures,” he added.
