The complaint revealed that a Karachi-based family had been inflicting torture on their daughter-in-law. The victim's family, based in Malaysia, approached the Women Protection Cell to report the matter online.
"No help can be extended to the victim since none of her family members resides in Karachi," the complaint read.

Following the incident, Sindh police arrested the suspects from Karachi.
The protection body did not reveal the victim's identity.
On March 9, police claimed to have arrested a suspect, who tortured his wife to death, in Faisalabad. Mureed Wala police said that Muhammad Naeem, a resident of Chak No 83-GB, married his daughter Uzma to Imtiaz, a resident of Chak No 206-GB six months ago. Soon after the marriage, differences developed between Uzma and her in-laws and they used to have arguments over minor issues.
