RAWALPINDI:
A contempt of court notice has been issued to the chief officer of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) for renting expensive properties on Murree Road and the Rose Cinema at Fawara Chowk. This was directed by the Lahore High Court-Rawalpindi Bench on Monday as it directed the official and RMC’s administration to present complete records along with an explanation April 11. Earlier, the RMC had rented expensive government-owned property for a fuel pump on a monthly basis at Murree Road and the Rose Cinema at Fawara Chowk for Rs150,000 and Rs23,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the RMC had rebuffed the offer from a citizen, Chaudhry Imran, who had filed an application offering as much as Rs300,000 in monthly rent along with a year’s rent in apart from hiring private security for the fuel pump on Murree Road. He had also offered Rs450,000 monthly rent for Rose Cinema.
