Pakistani athletes shine in Special Olympics World Games
Contingent has won six gold, six silver and as many bronze medals up until now
Special Olympics World Games 2019 saw a series of brilliant performance by Pakistani athletes as Hur Mushtaq got a gold medal in the ongoing event in Abu Dhabi.
He bagged first position in the 1500-meter race and hoisted the Pakistani flag.
Pakistani athlete Shumaila Arbab also remained successful in bagging a gold medal. She won the 200-meter race.
Maham Zehra bagged a gold in 2km cycling event, while Imran Ghaffar won the 2km and 5km cycling event.
Farzana Rehmat will also bring home gold with her best performance in shot put event.
Amir Ikhlaq got second position in the 1500-meter race and won a silver medal, while Humna Aslam won a silver in 2km cycling event.
Pakistani swimmer Shanza wins silver in Special Olympics
Pakistani athlete Affan, meanwhile, bagged four medals in powerlifting with one medal each in combined squat, bench press, deadlift and individual events. He ended up on a second spot courtesy all those wins and won a silver medal.
Muneeb Siddiqui and Shanza Munir won silvers in 50m freestyle swimming event.
Meanwhile Pakistan's Bocce team, comprising of Hina Arif, Nimra Tariq, Mohammad Anas and Mohammad Fraz won silver.
Apart from that, Pakistan contingent also won bronze medals from 200m race (2 medals), shot put (2 medals) and one bronze each from 4x25 freestyle relay team event, and 5km cycling event.
