CJ wants all pre-arrest bail pleas wrapped up in two weeks

Seeks weekly progress reports from all circuit benches of the high court

KARACHI: The Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Ahmed Ali directed all the benches on Saturday to wrap up all pleas of pre-arrest bails under trial in SHC within two weeks. Justice Sheikh sought weekly progress reports from all circuit benches of the high court. As per the chief justice’s directives all pre-arrest bail pleas under trial in all cases, except in cases of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), must be decided within two weeks. Besides, pleas requesting delays of hearings must be discouraged and if need be, the hearing of a case can be adjourned by one working day only.

There are 676 pre-arrest bail pleas filed in SHC of which 223 are in high court in Karachi, 292 in Hyderabad bench, 112 in Sukkur SHC while in Larkana there are 49 pre-arrest bail pleas filed.
