According to the report, there are 10 prisoners in Karachi Central Jail who have yet to pay more than Rs7.7 million in blood money. In Hyderabad Jail there are 14 such inmates who have to pay more than Rs3.2m in blood money, in Sukkur Central Jail there are five prisoners who have to pay more than Rs4.1m, while in Larkana Central Jail four prisoners have to pay more than Rs4.5m in blood money. The jails of Malir and Sanghar also have one such inmate each. There are a total of 35 such prisoners across Sindh.

Possession of Iqama
The SHC adjourned the hearing of the case against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur, Manzoor Wassan, Nasir Hussain, Sohail Anwar Siyal and others regarding the possession of Iqama due to the absence of lawyers.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and comprising Justice Agha Faisal adjourned the hearing till April 3 due to the lawyers’ engagement in other courts.
The plea maintained that Talpur’s assets have increased and the sources for it remain undeclared. There was a sudden addition of rice mills and other companies in the assets of Talpur in 2015. Talpur’s lawyer has also miscommunicated the information regarding companies, the plea stated.

Another bench of the SHC headed by Justice Aftab Gorar and comprising Justice Amjad Ali Sahito heard the pleas filed by accused, Raheem Shah, and Irshad Ranjhani’s brother, Khalid Ranjhani.
The court ordered DIG Sharjeel Kharal to submit a report after completion of the investigation. The court remarked that a joint investigation team (JIT) had been formed and it would conduct further investigation.
The counsel for Khalid, Asad Rashidi, said that further investigation of this case would be done by JIT, not the investigation officer.
He said that the JIT has to investigate both cases. One case is registered under the section of intentional murder and the other is registered under the section of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The investigation will be conducted it light of the case filed by Khalid, he said.
