Suspects recorded video of the shameful incident and threatened to upload it on social media
KHANPUR:
A 12-year-old boy was allegedly subjected to sexual assault in Khanpur on Monday.
Victim’s father K*, a resident of Jatki Basti, told the police that his son D*, was walking on Naz Cinema Road when a resident of the same area Moin approached him on a motorcycle.
He added the accused took his son along with him to a house situated at Pakistan Chowk where two more accomplices of the suspect identified as Malik Rashid and an unidentified man were waiting for them.
K* mentioned the culprits allegedly raped his son and recorded the shameful incident in the video. He highlighted the suspects also threatened the victim of dire consequences and warned him that they would upload the content on social media if he informed anyone about the matter.
Later, they fled the scene, leaving K* in an injured condition.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family demanded of the police and higher authorities to nab the accused and award them stern punishment.
Earlier, an eight-year-old madrassa student was sexually abused by two influential men in Rahim Yar Khan’s Shedani Sharif area. Police said that the boy, a resident of Fazalabad, was on his way to the madrassa when Sohail and Naeem abducted him and took him to a campsite. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted the victim and fled the scene after committing the offence.
A report compiled by NGO Sahil revealed that in 2017, an average of more than nine children were subjected to sexual violence nationwide on a daily basis. The report paints a distressing portrait of the situation. Statistics presented in the document showed child sexual abuse continued to persist, thus rubbishing government claims of better child protection standards. The document also revealed that children between 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 years of age were the most vulnerable to sexual abuse.
