RAWALPINDI: The two critical projects, which had been stalled for the past 12 years, could soon be realized after winning the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The government has decided to issue funds for the Leh Expressway and the Mother and Children Hospital in Rawalpindi.

The 400-bed hospital, pending for nearly a decade, is expected to be completed within 18 months while the Leh Expressway will be constructed by Frontier Works Organisation with funding from the federal and provincial governments as well as private partners.

PM Imran is expected to inaugurate the Leh Expressway project by the end of March or in the beginning of April this year. Officials say the process of land acquisition for the project is due to begin within a few weeks and with landowners to be paid the market price for their land.
