Govt to grant university status to Central Institute of Arts and Crafts: Wahab

The Sindh government is planning to grant university status to the Art Council's Central Institute of Arts and Crafts.
This was announced by Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab during a visit to the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, on Sunday. Wahab was accompanied by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Faryal Talpur to the Arts Council, where they were welcomed by Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi President Ahmed Shah and renowned writer, Anwar Maqsood.
Talpur expressed her support and appreciated the efforts of Maqsood and his team for promoting theatre and reviving stage dramas in the country. She said it was due to Maqsood and Shah's untiring efforts that the Arts Council in Karachi saw celebrities on its stage so frequently.
‘Education department may default on salaries if Centre does not release funds’
Speaking on the occasion, Wahab said that the Sindh government had always supported arts and culture in the city and the province. The adviser said that Sindh had a 5,000-year-old history rich with culture of which he was proud. He added that the Sindh government was planning to grant university status to the Art Council's Central Institute of Arts and Crafts soon.
Maqsood and Shah both expressed their appreciation for the support extended by the Sindh government and thanked them for their encouragement of cultural events and festivals.
