Six construction workers died on Saturday after the lift carrying them fell at an under construction building in the Boat Basin area of the port city, Express News reported.
The workers succumbed to their injuries at a hospital after suffering fatal injuries in the fall, said police. However, JPMC's Director Dr Seemi Jamali confirmed that the labourers were dead on arrival at the medical facility.
Seven of a family found dead in their home
Station Investigation Officer Ijaz Awan added that the labourers were working on the 13th floor of the under-construction building and were installing glass panels. Five other workers were injured in the incident.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, taking notice of the incident, has summoned a report from commissioner Karachi. CM Sindh stated that compensation should be provided to the kin of the deceased labourers, and the injured should be provided adequate healthcare facilities.
