FIA nabs two hackers in Wazirabad

Official says suspects also bought expensive gifts online for their relatives

GUJRANWALA: The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two hackers in Gujranwala’s Wazirabad City, Express News has learnt.

An FIA official said that Cyber Wing In Charge Inspector Shahid Nazeer assigned the task of apprehending the suspects to Sub-Inspector Usman Afzal. He added the FIA team raided a hideout in Head Khanqi area and nabbed two accused identified as Umar Hidayat and Naeem Shahid. Both culprits belong to Gujranwala region.

The official maintained that laptops, mobile phones, credit cards, data records and other items were seized from their possession. He disclosed that the accused used to hack credit cards of individuals through websites of different national and international banks.

He revealed after hacking the credit cards, the suspects paid for online shopping and bought expensive items, including cellphones and other electronic devices etc. He mentioned the cyber criminals also paid fees of schools situated abroad.

Police arrest two for killing friend

The official pointed out the accused also bought expensive gifts for their relatives and friends by paying through the hacked credit cards.

The FIA officials have registered a case under sections 419,420, 468,471 and 109 against the accused hackers and started investigations.

In January, the FIA arrested four people for swindling citizens through lottery schemes in Faisalabad.
