Woman dies from ‘wrong injection’ in Sananwan
Doctor Akhtar Shah administered an injection to the victim that claimed her life
KOT ADDU:
A woman died on Wednesday after reportedly being given the wrong injection at a private clinic in Muzaffargarh.
Police told Express News that Hasina Bibi, a resident of Sananwan Town, was feeling sick and suffering from pain. In a bid to get treatment, her relatives took her to Usman Clinic in the area which was run by Doctor Akhtar Shah.
After examining the patient, the doctor administered an injection to her. However, after a few minutes, Hasina Bibi’s condition deteriorated and she passed away. The accused doctor fled the scene after the incident. The deceased’s body was handed over to heirs for burial.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the victim protested against the incident and said that the accused doctor had displayed a fake board outside his clinic bearing the name of Dr Hameed Chughtai. They demanded of the deputy commissioner and authorities concerned to take notice of the matter and provide them justice.
When contacted, Dr Hameed Chughtai said that he had no link with the suspect and that his name had been displayed without his permission.
The police have registered a case and started a hunt for the accused.
Earlier in a similar incident, a two-year-old boy died after being given the wrong injection at a private hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
Victim’s father, Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Basti Imam Nagar, brought Ali Murtaza to Dr Khalid Hospital with minor pain.
After waiting for a while, the doctor examined his son and asked a paramedic to administer an injection. Ghafoor asked the doctor not to give an injection as the boy was not seriously ill and on an empty stomach. However, the doctor did not listen and gave an injection to the child that claimed his life.
