IHC seeks copy of SC Safa Mall case
During Wednesday’s hearing, seven suspects filed for bail in the case
ISLAMABAD:
The high court has sought copies of an order issued by the Supreme Court in a case pertaining to the corruption in the Safa Gold Mall in the federal capital. This was directed by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, as it heard a bail plea from the suspects. During Wednesday’s hearing, seven suspects filed for bail in the case. Their counsel contended that the Supreme Court had granted bail to Abdul Qayyum on his request even though he too was involved in the case. Hence, he argued that the bails of his clients should also be accepted. At this, the court sought a copy of the SC’s order in the case. The counsel for the applicants said that the copy of the SC’s order — whether short or detailed — can be furnished at the next hearing of the case. At this, the court adjourned further hearings until March 13.
