ISLAMABAD:

Popular drama artist Shakeel fused different roles from his acting career in an awe-inspiring stage performance in “Aus Gali Na Javein” at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad on Saturday.

The stage play, written by Sarmad Sehbai, was a tribute to the living legend who has dedicated his life to the field of drama.

The play tells the story of a madman who after losing his memory starts to live in an imaginary world of his own. In this newly-created world he starts conversing with birds and one day discovers that one of them has gone missing.

The experimental play complimented the artist’s skills along with depicting various aspects of his life and career.

Shakeel, a seasoned artist has always does justice to each of his roles and his current one was no exception. “Zair Zabar Paish”, “Aangan Tehra” and “Shehzori” are few of the classic hits to his name.

“Ankahi” won him unmatched recognition in both India and Pakistan and continues to enthral audiences even today. His expression, speech delivery and body language capture the feelings of the character, completely convincing the audience.

Talking to APP, PNCA Director General Tauqeer Nasir said, “Artists like Shakeel have learnt and shared their experiences from the golden era of TV, theatre and radio. They continue to be the source of inspiration for new comers
but it is highly unlikely that our industry will produce a generation of such great artists.”

He added,” We should acknowledge the versatility of these artists during their lifetime, and young artists should learn from them.”
