QUETTA:
Home Minister Balochistan Mir Ziaullah Langove has issued directives to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to make arrangements for relief and rescue work during the upcoming heavy rains which are expected to hit Balochistan in the coming few days.
He said the meteorological department has already predicted the heavy rains could affect huge population in different parts of the province, adding that flood could hit and affect several districts following the rain showers.
Similarly, Langove said PDMA has been directed to gear up for relief and rescue activities in emergency situation if heavy rains hit Balochistan.
Langove replaces Khosa as home minister
“The government is utilising all the resources for rehabilitation of the affected people,” he said adding we will not let the affected people alone.
Langove also said the government has already established a coordination cell for relief and rehabilitation activities in flood affected areas and to provide relief to the affected people.
Meanwhile, a fresh of spell of rain and snow started in majority areas of Balochistan Friday.
Quetta, Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, Gulistan, Duki, Mezai Adda, Kalat, Ziarat, Sanjawi, Pishin, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Jewani, Nokandi and other parts of the province received heavy rain while mountains in Quetta snowcapped during Friday evening.
According to reports, the new rain system has entered in Balochistan and would continue showering major parts of the province for the next two days.
The rain brought the temperatures down to below minus Celsius and majority of citizens crowded on streets to enjoy the rain however simmering sewerage lines have caused woes for pedestrians as they were unable to walk on roads due to filthy water.
