KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted on Friday protective bail to former federal minister and former PPP MNA, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, till April 5 in another inquiry initiated against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

A divisional bench comprising Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh and Justice Omar Sial heard the pre-arrest bail in which the court granted the protective bail against a surety of Rs500,000.

The same bench issued notices to NAB director-general (DG) while granting protective bail to Agha Maseehuddin, brother of Sindh Assembly Speaker, for four weeks in a NAB inquiry related to the illegal allotment of land. The court ordered him to submit a surety of Rs200,000. The plea mentioned that NAB had summoned Maseehuddin on March 5 for interrogation in the inquiry against Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

Bail rejected

In the case pertaining to the illegal appointments and billions of rupees corruption in Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS), the same bench rejected the bail plea by former FCS vice-chairperson Sultan Qamar Siddiqui. According to NAB prosecutor, there are undeniable evidences against the accused. It will negatively affect the case if the bails are granted to the accused, said the prosecutor. The reference against the accused is under trial at an accountability court.
