Pakistan needs to be cautious about the US-Taliban peace deal as several similar deals have been initiated by the US in the past as well, only to be retracted later when it did not serve their interests and needs.
These thoughts were shared by Ambassador (Retd) Abrar Hussain while speaking at the roundtable conference ‘Afghanistan in Transition: Ramification of Current Engagement with the Taliban’ which was organised by Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). The speakers’ panel also included Ambassador (Retd) Tajammul Altaf, Ambassador (Retd) Ayaz Wazir, Brigadier (Retd) Said Nazir, Air Commodore (Retd) Khalid Iqbal, Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz and religious scholar and media analyst Israr Madani. IPS Executive President Khalid Rahman chaired the session.
