‘Blood Brothers’ opens at Alhamra Hall in Lahore

Dawar Lashari returns with latest project after acclaimed comedy ‘Date Night’

LAHORE:
After a successful run with Date Night, theatre artist Dawar Lashari is performing once again, this time in a new play called Blood Brothers. The upcoming drama premiered in Lahore on Wednesday night, at the Alhamra Hall on Mall Road.

Blood Brothers will continue on till March 10. It is a musical drama directed by Lashari himself, who happens to be the son of All Pakistan Exhibitors Association chairman Zoraiz Lashari. The emerging playwright is hopeful that people will appreciate his hard work once again, just as they did with Date Night.

“The play Blood Brothers is a mix of emotions and sentiments that will be shown to the audience via the different characters in it,” Lashari told The Express Tribune. “There is love, sadness, jealousy and patriotism and all other basic human emotions mixed together in a beautiful one-hour-and-40-minutes-long package. The cast has done a fantastic job in bringing justice to the characters and there is such beauty in our direction, production, lighting and dialogues! Everyone who comes to watch Blood Brothers will love it.”

Lashari clarified that while Date Night was a comedy, Blood Brothers is much more serious and very different. “Every character represents real life. There is a mother, a brother. There are friends and others. There is music, there is dance and most importantly, there is a story,” he said. “Also, none of the songs have been pre-recorded. All the musical performances are being done live.”

The primary cast of Blood Brothers includes Ian Eldred, Iman Shahid, Rasti Farooq, Abdullah Ghazanfar, Waleed Zaidi, Mahnoor Yawar, Omer Cheema and Huzaifa Akbar. The administration of Alhamra Hall has been undertaking special preparations for the play as the people of Lahore are excited to watch it. Lashari has acquired considerable popularity following the success of Date Night and youngsters across the city are particularly excited to watch Blood Brothers. In fact, the administration has also decorated Alhamra Hall for the play and has been carrying out a major advertising campaign for it over social media.

As per Alhamra officials, Blood Brothers will be staged every night at 7:00 pm till March 10. The acclaimed art institution has also invited various prominent government officials to come and watch the play.
